Social Studies - United States History
For the next few weeks we are focusing on the United States Government and Constitution. The student will be expected to:
-explain the purpose of the U.S. Constitution as identifies in the Preamble
-explain the reasons for the creation of the Bill of Rights and its importance
-identify and explain the basic functions of the three branches of government
-identify the reasons for and describe the system of checks and balances outlined in the Constitution
-distinguish between nation and state governments and compare their responsibilities in the U.S. federal system.
